Summer layers

july look3

Already half of Summer has gone by and I am still looking forward to my vacation (soon, very soon!) and I don't know about you, but I feel that apart from eating ice cream and cursing the heat, I haven't done much this Summer. I didn't even get a change to swim or buy a new maxi dress!
Oh well, there is still time I guess; struggling between two jobs with a sick cat does not give me much time for anything lately, one of the reasons of my MIA, actually.

I hope you are spending this season far more better than I am!

Red and white only

red flare pants1

I am a stranger to my own blog. I am guilty of being too cozy at home after a long day of work and my lack of motivation is increasing rapidly.
What have I been doing these past weeks? Between working two jobs and watching drama shows, I realized Summer officially came and my only accomplishment so far was eating a mountain of cherries in celebration of this season ( I don't know about you, but we only get cherries in June here). In the meantime, I binge-watched "The handmaid's tale" and "13 reasons why" - both drama series, incredibly good and amazingly...raw. If you are into tragic stories, I recommend them dearly.
Also, I am almost done reading "The lilac girls" by Martha Hall Kelly a story of three women during World War II. Being surrounded by these dramatic, actually tragic stories, there is no wonder I feel no excitement towards new projects and any fun plans are obscured by needless thoughts about some random existential crisis.
I definitely need to read a positive book or watch a fun show, do you have any suggestions? Let me know!

I hope you'll have a brighter weekend than mine!

Denim skirts and lace tops - the new classic

lace top4

Can you believe it's already June? I sure can't! Summer is here and I am dreaming of a looong vacation, countless ice creams and cocktails in the evenings. Until then, a relaxing walk here and there and some photos in the middle, all squeezed in between two jobs - got to pay for that vacation somehow right?

I hope you are all doing well and I wish you a great week guys! lace top6 lace top5 lace top lace top3 lace top2 Wearing: Zara top, thrifted skirt, New Yorker bag and sunglasses, vintage earrings, no name sandals

Checkered shirt and mom jeans

checkered

It's amusing how this "Mom jeans" trend grew on me since I used to consider this type of jeans so old, they were the definition of "not cool" to me, I preferred either skinny jeans or flare pants, but never something in between. I guess that at a certain age you unwillingly change you style and embrace new options, I don't think I could ever wear Converse shoes with skater skirts anymore for example! So my attention was grabbed by this jeans fit and I realized that it really looks very well on my body, and what do you know?  they have become my favorite pair. How do you feel about them?

Fun fact about the print on this shirt; during my childhood, our school uniform used to have the exact same print in the exact same shade of blue and now I see it everywhere in stores, it's so funny! in a way, I thought it looked pretty interesting and it made me feel a bit nostalgic and along with that adorable ruffle, those were the reasons that made me take it home.
In case you haven't noticed, this checkered print is a must this season, for those of you who want to create more sporty-chic looks. I decided to try it out because fashion is fun and its's all about experiments, right? How do you like it?

Summer is just around the corner

navy3

If yesterday I was able to wear easy-breezy culottes and sandals, today I am in jeans and sport shoes, a very weird weather if you ask me.
Yet, I am constructing my new Summer wardrobe in my mind and can't wait to be able to wear my new tops and skirts!

I hope you are all doing great wherever you are, I am mostly dividing my time between two jobs, I am in urgent need of some coffee right now actually and I am continuously idealizing a vacation that I hope will come soon!

How excited are you about Summer?

Smart casual look for Spring

floral blazer4

Looking back at these photos makes me wonder how can the weather change so rapidly from sunny Spring to rainy Autumn. It feels as if we skipped Summer and went straight in November. Blame it on global warming or on mystical forces, but I simply find it hard to deal with.

So, my attempt for a new Spring outfit inspiration, a kind of smart casual look, feels like a joke right now in my country, but I hope that the rest of you who live in warmer climates are experiencing a much more delightful time and could actually dress like this!
The floral print blazer is a must have for me in the Spring season, this one has quite a relaxed, casual cut, so paired with some straight pants and a simple top really gets your attention and that is the whole point right?

Right, well, for the next week I am back to my rain coat and heavy clothing (hopefully not sweaters!) so, I hope that during this time I won't have to post an article titled "Back to Winter".

Going back in time to the '90s!

denim4

High waist pants, cropped top and denim jacket - I feel like mom in the '90s.
Those pants did belong to her until that print struck my fancy and decided she would not miss wearing them, so it was safe to say that it was my turn to do that!
They are funny and also fun to wear, for any casual relaxing day, wouldn't you agree?

So, all you millennials out there, if you ever fancy creating an outfit from mid '90s, go raid your mother's closet, it's the most convenient (and free) option!

How do you feel about fashion in the '90s ?

Styling a mini leather skirt

rain2

A mini skirt, nothing new on the horizon, I am aware, however I wanted to say that I really used to avoid this type of skirts because I felt they were too simple and my fascination for the retro 1950's knee length skirts was over the roof so that didn't help, but not long ago I began looking at mini skirts in a different light.
Now, I still love circle skirts, they will always be my favorite thing to wear and this leather skirt you see it here is not new, but I love the shape of it and how it looks, so I wanted to dedicate an article to it, share with you my thoughts and maybe some guidance on how to style such a piece.

 1. Make sure the skirt is made of thick leather (of course it can be faux leather) the idea is that there are faux leather fabrics that are lighter and cheap that it will simply crack and break in time - this will create a cheap look that will do no good.

2. Wear it with short sweaters that stop just about your waistline, it creates a very chic and fun look as opposed to the classic shirt/sweater tucked inside the skirt.

 3. Over the knee boots are a must-have these days, they are the perfect match for any mini skirt and I am a big fan as well, however, today I wanted to wear them with a pair of ankle boos, mainly because it's March and well... my boots are locked up in my closet until December.

 4. Pair it with a jacket that stops at your waistline - this option will make your skirt the center piece of  your outfit. Or, longer jackets or coats work just as fine, depending on what look you are aiming for.
