Easter cookies and cupcakes ideas!

easter cupcakes

Are you ready for Easter yet? If you haven't finished your festive meals, here are a few suggestions of something sweet, of course! One of my biggest pleasures in life is to bake cakes and sweets, so whenever there is a major holiday coming up, it is natural of me to post some recipes on this blog. Decorating cakes is so much fun! So here I am with some Easter inspired cupcakes and cookies recipes, I hope you will love them!

I searched all around Pinterest for some inspiration and took some idea from there and decided to create some sort of bunny shapes from frosting while making the ears from sugar paste (or marzipan).
Then I made some Easter egg nests - these are my favorite! -  a few other bunny tails and the ones with strawberries were meant to represent carrots dug up from the ground, but my glazing technique failed me this time and it did not stick to the strawberries, so let's pretend  they are carrots, ok?

I also made some gingerbread Easter egg cookies, now I cheated a bit with these, because I used a dough mix from the store and did not make it myself, but I promise you I spent more than three hours decorating these!
I worked with four bowls or frosting, each in a different color and I messed up my kitchen with glaze, tiny butterflies and food coloring, but I so loved the final result, I mean, the whole designing process gave me such satisfaction!

Easter is all about pastel colors and fun shapes, so creating these was so much fun for me, just looking at them brings me such joy, I bet that by tomorrow they will be all gone, at least I hope they are delicious too!

Here are the ingredients I used:

For the cupcakes dough: your basic 150 g flour, 120 g caster sugar, 2 eggs, 100 ml milk, 100 g butter and a bit of almond extract - my favorite.
Mixed all these and bake them for 25 minutes at 175 degrees Celsius

For the frosting - I used the same frosting for the cookies and cupcakes:
180 g of mascarpone cheese, 200 ml of whipped cream, a bit of vanilla extract.

You also need food coloring and various cake decorations, you can find them at the baking department in any hyper market.

I hope you like them and I will leave you by wishing you a very happy (and delicious) Easter!

Post Easter thoughts

883 5

As you probably read this, I am still sleeping, recovering from last night's party, because you have to finish the Easter holidays with a bang, right?
Speaking of which, this is the outfit I wore on Sunday, to a short visit at my grandparents house. As usual, I tried not to eat too much food and I am doing a pretty good job at it, but when it comes to sweets, well...that's a different story!
In a way, I am glad the holidays are over so I can revitalise myself with fresh smoothies, fruits and vegetables (but those who are around me will see how I'll crave for a cheesecake in about a week or so)

I hope you all had a great peaceful time surrounded by your loved ones! I am glad we had a wonderful weather for starters!

The comeback and some general thoughts

lis2 5

Well, hello again for those who missed me! I may have to start explaining why I went MIA for about a month and a half, but I really don't have a serious reason. And don't start to think that I was lazy taking pictures, because that is not the case.
There were various reasons why I took this long hiatus, which never happened before in 4 years of blogging, most of them are related to the fact that I somehow got lost in my daily routine, with my job and all and I didn't have time to think about what I should post about next, I had no inspiration, I had no time or need to buy new clothes and feel happy about it - seriously, I spent most of my days in the same boring jeans and various sweaters or shirts and that was about it. Whenever I had free time, I wanted to walk, read, relax my brain and watch Game of Thrones.
Then there was this issue of not having a dedicated photographer 24/7 when I needed him. And this is quite frustrating. Another reason was the weird weather. Whenever I had time and mood for photos, it was pouring rain or snowing - yea..imagine that. Then I had some problems with my PC.

So, pilling all of that together, got me in a very annoyed state where I just felt that my passion for blogging was somehow hazed by this struggle of finding a solution for all of it, to make it work better. I still didn't find it. I don't know if I will. I would love to come up with a new concept, a new design, new places to shoot photos, but I am limited, so don't expect to get new content here, because I am the same old me, but with a few new clothes now.

During this time, I started to listen to a lot of jazz and blues which I love, I started once again to make a new "want-to-read" book list, I bought flowers and enjoyed them, I started cooking fancy meals and made more delicious cakes. I made a short visit to Bucharest, revisited old but familiar places and got filled with nostalgic memories, I saw my friends, my blogger friends and it was just great to change the scenery a bit. I tried finding new hobbies, but I haven't found one that enhances me as much as creating outfits and taking photos for the blog does, so I decided to continue it and mostly because certain people missed my virtual presence.

Currently I am in my hometown for the Easter holidays and I am finally enjoying the warm weather (until recently I was still wearing ankle boots). Today I choose a sporty-spice look, so different from all the floral patterns I am used to for Spring. The outfit was pretty much revolved around those cute new shoes I bought that I really needed this season - and they are so comfy!
I looked like I was going to a tennis match and it felt great to feel a bit different.
Anyways, I can't wait for Summer, to wear espadriles, platform sandals, chiffon cardigans and flare pants!

I hope you are having a Happy Easter guys! I will definitely see you soon.

This Easter morning

8ji 1

 Happy Easter people!
How are you celebrating? For me, it's basic: relax, eat a lot of food and traditional sweets and then just activate my "lazy-mode" for the rest of the day. Even though this is not my favorite Holiday, it's still a good excuse for me to procrastinate and keep my day dreaming up to date, so to speak.
I am wearing THIS beautiful chiffon dress I just received from TB Dress, in green, naturally, because it goes so well with my hair. In fact, it was the color that attracted me. I also love the simplicity of it, the fact that you can wear it both in daytime and at special ocassions during the night, if you accessorize it properly. It's easy to wear and just simply so comfortable!
I hope you're having a great time surrounded by your loved ones, ultimately, that is the most important thing, right?

Well I wonder..

..I constantly wonder how nature amazes me with the beauty of flowers, rocks, rivers, birds and did I mention flowers? I can never get enough of their colors and their scent and their structure. I wish Spring could last forever! that's is no good, I will still be dreaming of Autumn's colors and its fresh cold evenings.
I was here reunited with my whole family celebrating Easter, and lucky for me I got to take photos in my aunt's almost spooky garden, and you know me..the mysterious places, the better photos!

Little Red Riding Hood lost her basket

I always love taking photos in forests, there is always something mysterious, creepy and yet so beautiful about them. These were taken after visiting my relatives on Easter day, a simple floaty dress paired with my mom's vintage belt, it has such a beautiful design, and of course she will never get to see it again, muahaha. Tomorrow I am going out for a little shopping and the day after..back to Bucharest..oh no..
