Softness

mons2

Goodness, the weather is just splendid! And a bit over the top if I may say..I mean, now it's 11 A.M. and the sun is burning, it feels like Summer which is quite unexpected for this time of the year. I have to go back in my hometown soon to bring all my Summer clothes and sandals!
As for this outfit, well, I chose to wear something light, something really delicate and comfortable; sometimes I could feel the wind blowing through that soft fabric and you know it's such a pleasant feeling. And the evenings are just perfect!

I'll be preparing soon for the fashion show tonight, so I'll hope to see you lovely people there at Iulius Mall at 6 P.M.!

DIY Skirt

I thought of making a skirt today from fabric leftovers and I said to myself "let's make a tutorial"
I have no idea how good I am at explaining but here goes:

Take a piece of fabric about 150 cm (59.1 inches) and fold it once, you chose the lenght as you see it fit -I chose about 60 cm (23.6 inches).

Then sew where the fabric folds, so you can make the back of the skirt.

Afterwards, with the skirt still backfaced, sew along with a piece of elastic - measure your waistline for this; carefully, and stretch as much as you can the elastic so you can make the creases.

And voila!
Hope this was useful, if not, feel free to ask me questions.

P.S. Be careful in choosing your fabric. This skirt was made out of taffeta. Remember, the thicker the fabric, the more wider it will be - if you are into '50s fashion.

More Fashion

I know it's been awhile but I promise , soon, you will see my outfits - if this is the only thing you're interested in; for now, I leave you with another two of my favorite collections so far from Fall 2011.
Here is Milly:

From what I've seen so far, was this tendency to minimalsim versus color, mixing patterns and fabrics, and again the '70s silhouette. Of course, I love color as you can very much see, and these collections are quite in my tastes. God, I really need more maxi skirts.
Okay, I am off to take some photos and face the freezing cold outside.
Have a great lazy Sunday!

NY Favorites

Sorry guys, no outfit post today, I am stuck in studies... tomorrow is my final exam and I am free!
For now I leave you with my favorite collections so far from New York Fashion Week.

And Vena Cava..

As you might know, I am not a totally fan of glamour, I like casual and fun looks, I prefer color to black, and eccentricity to minimalism. I love flare pants, sheer fabrics, midi or maxi skirts and the idea of "youth", and this is what I am searching on the catwalks , plus some funky , surprising new ideas.

Can't wait for more shows!

How was your Valentine's Day?
I don't usually celebrate this day, so I watched New York Fashion Week's shows, cleaned up the house and ran some errands, and I bumped into Alice - again - I think the Universe has something planed for us.
About the photos.. I took them yesterday when it was a gorgeous day, and made me dream of Spring very badly. If I see an inch of snow again, I'll get depressed.
I made the skirt awhile ago, after falling in love with the print on that gorgeous velvet, so I started playing with it. And this is the result. Like?
Oh and the necklace is recently bought, it reminded me of Alice in Wonderland so it immediately caught my eye.

Almost Spring

The day I shot these photos was so warm and lovely and now it's a fog so dense that you can cut it with a knife. I bought the shorts on sales, they were a great finding, what I loved about them was the high waist and the color, not black, but khaki. That day I bought fabrics and I am starting to make other stuff for myself, I am so excited, can't wait to see the result! You will see as well, quite soon..
I'm off to work! Hope you have a lovely week!
