For the love of burgundy

burgundy2

Can you believe Autumn is almost at it's end and soon Christmas will knock on our doors? It's no secret that I am already feeling festive and that I have a plan on how to decorate this year's Christmas so, I can't wait to start on it!
It really feels like November outside, the weather is really gloomy, so this is our last chance to color it up a bit, even if it is in darker colors! My favorite colors for Autumn are definitely burgundy and navy blue, I feel they are the perfect match, don't you? It's no use to stay gloomy on the inside too, so there is nothing that some color and a cup of hot chocolate can cure, am I right?

Warm Autumn days

autumn21

The weather we have been experienced here lately has been so lovely; it honestly felt more like Spring than Autumn! Although the sweater-weather began a long time ago for some of you, I refused to wear knits until now, I was not ready to let go jackets and shirts quite yet. But when I received this amazing fluffy sweater from Zaful, I could not resist trying it on!
The fact that it is white allows you to wear it with tons of other colors and styles! What I loved the most was the colorful embroidery which makes it stand out in a delicate way - also, it seems embroidery is in trend this season too!

Who else is enjoying the Autumn colors as much as I do? I only wish I could spend each day in the park - like an old lady, yes.

Denim Glamour

denim glamour4

When did it became Fall I wonder? After my short holiday to Rome, which seems like ages ago, I got so caught up with the reality of the world that I forgot how fast time passes by and here we are, at the end of September and me, still longing for beach days and cold lemonades. I still got the Summertime sadness it seems..
These photos were taken right after a huge storm passed by, luckily, I took shelter in a cafe and no harm was done (to me at least). The light was so dim and I thought we would never manage to get a satisfying result, so it took me a week or so to decide to publish these images. The weather has been horrid since and I think it might've been the last time those white shoes saw the light this year!
How about these "mom jeans" ? - yet I bought another pair! The fit of these jeans really struck me and what better way to add some glamour to them than pearls? I thought it was such a nice touch, I couldn't resist them!
How do you feel about this denim trend?

Layers of knits

knit layers3

One day is snowing, another day it feels like an early Spring, the weather seems confused and so do we. This past weekend we experienced a very warm and nice time, so there was no need for a heavy coat, bur rather a cozy cardigan over a light jumper and it felt very comfortable and just right, even during the evening when it got a bit more colder.
Knits are the best thing you can wear during a transitional season, they really keep you warmer than 5 layers of cotton sweatshirts, there is something about natural wool that preserves the body temperature, don't you think so?
This was my outfit for the weekend, I chose to wear some of my favorite knitwear in contrasting colors, just what I needed for a colorful relaxed Sunday afternoon.

 Happy Monday!

The velvet cape

the velvet cape

I am so glad to hear that velvet is back in trend this Fall, so I thought it was time to take out my fancy velvet cape once again! I absolutely love this cape, it's just perfect for both daytime and evening wear, for a cocktail party or a night at the opera, wouldn't you say?
Even though I don't wear it as often as I want, it's one of my favorite items in my wardrobe and I don't think I could ever part ways with it; who even knows how old it is, I bought it a few years back from a thrift shop, but I intend to keep it in perfect condition for another twenty years or more.
What do you guys think about velvet?

Four ideas to recreate designer looks on a budget

You know that feeling when you see a designer's collection during Fashion Week, you see an outfit that you love head to toe and want to wear it in that instant? Not all of us have a infinite budget to spend on high end clothing items, but we have imagination and if we really want, we can recreate some of the outfits we see on the runway without breaking the bank account.

Here are some of my favorite looks for this season, a bit of glamour, a bit of velvet - I'm so glad it's back in trend!, clash of prints an more importantly - color! One cannot live without color.

I hope you like my suggestions, can't wait to hear your thoughts! how to recreate a designer look on a budget

The sweetest Halloween

halloween cupcakes10
Happy Halloween guys!

I overdone it this year, as I am not very much into Halloween, it's not a traditional holiday in my country, but it started to grow on me, the pumpkin carvings, the candles and the costumes, it creates such an eerie atmosphere and cozy at the same time. Additionally, I wanted to make something sweet for this occasion, so I though a few themed cupcakes will be just the right thing!
I got inspired from various recipes and photos around the web and I wish I had a fondant to create more funny or scary shapes to decorate the cupcakes, but I didn't have time to make one or order it online, but there is always next year!

For a first run, I am quite pleased with these cupcakes, the dough was very easy to make, your typical flour, eggs, butter, sugar and with a twist of fresh savor given by the scraped orange peel. I also added a coat of icing, made from powder sugar and a spoon of lemon juice, just to balance out the heavy taste of sugar. Next, I added the chocolate frosting and the strawberry frosting for the brain looking like cupcakes - they were the sweetest!
For the other decorations I used scraped biscuits, a red pigment to paint and marshmallows.

We decided to carve the pumpkin after I made the cupcakes, needless to say, there were gone in about 10 minutes, so that is why the pumpkin appears faceless in a few photos and two-faced in the others.

Anyway, I hope you're having a great (and creepy) night and maybe you'll feel inspired with my cupcake ideas!

Bonus, here is a photo of my black cat, the "scariest" cat you'll ever see; she is currently in a zen, lazy mood, as always.

In a sea of leaves

sea of leaves9

I am over joyed by these photos, the colors and the scenery are just so beautiful, for the first time ina  long time, it was very hard for me to select just these photos to show you, because what began as a normal photo shoot, turned into a more artistic one and I have to say that we had some fun time, the results are just amazing to me. Just scroll down and you'll see.

I thought it was about that to take out this dress I got from Zaful not so long ago, as long as we are still having this somewhat warm weather; I really feel it will be staying in my wardrobe until Spring for now, because the days are getting colder and colder.
These days the park is just so beautiful, there are so many yellow and orange fallen leaves everywhere, I really wish they could be like this all the time. So to celebrate this season in style, I thought I could wear this dress and blend in this massive sea of leaves I like to call it and share wih you the joy!
Hope you like it!
