Styling a mini leather skirt

rain2

A mini skirt, nothing new on the horizon, I am aware, however I wanted to say that I really used to avoid this type of skirts because I felt they were too simple and my fascination for the retro 1950's knee length skirts was over the roof so that didn't help, but not long ago I began looking at mini skirts in a different light.
Now, I still love circle skirts, they will always be my favorite thing to wear and this leather skirt you see it here is not new, but I love the shape of it and how it looks, so I wanted to dedicate an article to it, share with you my thoughts and maybe some guidance on how to style such a piece.

 1. Make sure the skirt is made of thick leather (of course it can be faux leather) the idea is that there are faux leather fabrics that are lighter and cheap that it will simply crack and break in time - this will create a cheap look that will do no good.

2. Wear it with short sweaters that stop just about your waistline, it creates a very chic and fun look as opposed to the classic shirt/sweater tucked inside the skirt.

 3. Over the knee boots are a must-have these days, they are the perfect match for any mini skirt and I am a big fan as well, however, today I wanted to wear them with a pair of ankle boos, mainly because it's March and well... my boots are locked up in my closet until December.

 4. Pair it with a jacket that stops at your waistline - this option will make your skirt the center piece of  your outfit. Or, longer jackets or coats work just as fine, depending on what look you are aiming for.

Everlasting love for velvet, vintage and bygone times

silk velvet green top2

Anyone who knows me, should be aware of my constant attraction to aristocracy, vintage accessories and clothing, old houses and...velvet. Put together all of them and I am complete!
Whenever I see a 100 year old historical mansion, I immediately feel this urge to explore it inside and out, then I start to imagine what kind of people lived there and all the stories and memories it upholds. I feel a sudden melancholy that is not even mine and I can't explain why, but I love it.
Whenever I am in such a house, I feel like I never want to leave, so capturing bits and pieces of it in pictures is the best I can do to keep the feeling alive and share it with you as well.

It feels this place deserves a proper attire, so I thought a silk velvet top which happens to be off the shoulder will make me feel a bit like a Victorian noble woman. Pair that with a cameo choker and vintage golden earrings and my look is fulfilled.

I wanted to snap more pictures of this house, but I wasn't exactly allowed to do that, plus there were other customers, but I hope you can get an idea of how classy it feels.
By the way, the place is called Amadeus Mozart Caffe for those who are interested. They serve the most delicious cakes and coffee in town!

The little sparkly details

winter portrait

Can you believe it's almost December? Everywhere I look I see colorful lights and decorated trees in window shops and all kinds of Christmas gift ideas circulating over the Web, it's maybe a bit overwhelming, but I love it! I am in festive mood for about two weeks now and I can' wait to buy new Christmas decorations and start making gifts and such.
This post is not about anything Christmas related actually, I don't really know what got me talking about this subject all of a sudden. I don't even know where I was going with these photos, I wasn't intending to create an outfit post, but rather I wanted to concentrate the attention to the details, like this gorgeous velvet choker and one of my favorite vintage brooches and the fact that this sweater can be worn in many ways, especially off the shoulder. Don't you think that chokers work perfectly with bare shoulders? I think it looks so feminine and intriguing!
I got mine from Onecklace, a brand I worked with before, they sell the most delicate golden or silver jewelry, they specialize in earrings, bracelets and also the famous personalized name necklaces, one that I also have and that is very dear to my heart.

I hope you are keeping warm, the weather here is freeezing and all I want to do is drink hot tea and read exciting fantasy books.
