Everlasting love for velvet, vintage and bygone times

silk velvet green top2

Anyone who knows me, should be aware of my constant attraction to aristocracy, vintage accessories and clothing, old houses and...velvet. Put together all of them and I am complete!
Whenever I see a 100 year old historical mansion, I immediately feel this urge to explore it inside and out, then I start to imagine what kind of people lived there and all the stories and memories it upholds. I feel a sudden melancholy that is not even mine and I can't explain why, but I love it.
Whenever I am in such a house, I feel like I never want to leave, so capturing bits and pieces of it in pictures is the best I can do to keep the feeling alive and share it with you as well.

It feels this place deserves a proper attire, so I thought a silk velvet top which happens to be off the shoulder will make me feel a bit like a Victorian noble woman. Pair that with a cameo choker and vintage golden earrings and my look is fulfilled.

I wanted to snap more pictures of this house, but I wasn't exactly allowed to do that, plus there were other customers, but I hope you can get an idea of how classy it feels.
By the way, the place is called Amadeus Mozart Caffe for those who are interested. They serve the most delicious cakes and coffee in town!

The velvet cape

the velvet cape

I am so glad to hear that velvet is back in trend this Fall, so I thought it was time to take out my fancy velvet cape once again! I absolutely love this cape, it's just perfect for both daytime and evening wear, for a cocktail party or a night at the opera, wouldn't you say?
Even though I don't wear it as often as I want, it's one of my favorite items in my wardrobe and I don't think I could ever part ways with it; who even knows how old it is, I bought it a few years back from a thrift shop, but I intend to keep it in perfect condition for another twenty years or more.
What do you guys think about velvet?

A bit bohemian

7 7

This weekend I went for a casual, relaxed look, not too complicated or fancy. Sometimes I just go for it even though I would love to feel like a vintage princess most of the time.
So this past Saturday I went for a boho-chic kind of look, it was all about loose clothes, flats and fringes. Since I've seen this bohemian trend around all major brands this season, it really got me and I could't help but dive in to it and take on some hippie clothing like this. I don't regret it, I feel comfortable with this style too. But I'll never let go of circle skirts and high heels, no no.

What have you been doing this past weekend? I hope it was a relaxed one!

I breathe vivid colors

A stray doggie wanted a bit of attention, isn't he cute?
And who said I can't wear crazy colors in winter? The trends? It's of course cool to adopt them, if you are harmonized with that trend, otherwise people will feel that it is not YOU behind certain clothes and textures, but that is the thing: some do not consider that and adopt every single trend that is given by style.com or elle.com or Vogue, so they can be fashionable, but recently there are too many to choose from so to me it's a bit confusing..it seems like everything is in fashion these days!
When I saw last season's main trend -color block- I thought yes, finally fashion resonates with me, and then every blogger and fashionista was wearing vivid colors, because someone told them it's ok to do that, and then I felt like almost disappearing in the mass, so at some point I ended up hating that trend. And of course once you wear a certain piece now, the next year you should bury it in your closet and forget about it for let's say..5 years.
So I want you to tell me now, if you see me in colors in winter, does it mean that I am not fashionable anymore?
