Everlasting love for velvet, vintage and bygone times

silk velvet green top2

Anyone who knows me, should be aware of my constant attraction to aristocracy, vintage accessories and clothing, old houses and...velvet. Put together all of them and I am complete!
Whenever I see a 100 year old historical mansion, I immediately feel this urge to explore it inside and out, then I start to imagine what kind of people lived there and all the stories and memories it upholds. I feel a sudden melancholy that is not even mine and I can't explain why, but I love it.
Whenever I am in such a house, I feel like I never want to leave, so capturing bits and pieces of it in pictures is the best I can do to keep the feeling alive and share it with you as well.

It feels this place deserves a proper attire, so I thought a silk velvet top which happens to be off the shoulder will make me feel a bit like a Victorian noble woman. Pair that with a cameo choker and vintage golden earrings and my look is fulfilled.

I wanted to snap more pictures of this house, but I wasn't exactly allowed to do that, plus there were other customers, but I hope you can get an idea of how classy it feels.
By the way, the place is called Amadeus Mozart Caffe for those who are interested. They serve the most delicious cakes and coffee in town!

New Year's Eve Look

new years eve outfit

Christmas came and went in a glimpse, as it does each year and I hope that you all had a fantastic and joyful time surrounded by your loved ones and most importantly, that you received a lot of presents!
Can you believe there are three more days left and the year is gone? I was thinking that it felt like yesterday I watched Episode VII of Star Wars, but I actually watched Rogue One a few days ago - those who watched them both will know that a whole year separates the two films.

But look at me, talking about Star Wars in my pretty silk velvet dress, instead of thinking of all the good and positive moments from the past year. Speaking of pretty dresses, I though if giving you an idea of a New Year's Eve look, based on my on personal preferences, of course. Surely, since velvet is a huge trend this season and one of my favorite fabrics ever, it was natural that I would pick this dress as my favorite for this occasion! I love the color (which is actually less blue in reality) and the draping, it just looks so feminine and elegant, I really felt for it.
I got it at a local tiny shop in my hometown, I wouldn't have minded if it was a dark green, but this color works great with my hair color too.
Topped with some delicate golden accessories with pearls because it really doesn't need much and let the party begin!

If I won't see you in the next three days, then I'll return in 2017 with fresh new forces!

Happy New Year guys!

Medieval romance

medieval romance

Welcome to my castle!

Right, I wish I could live in one, I bet it would be beyond fabulous, but since you and me do not have that luxury, we can only dream right?
And so I dreamt and to bring this little dream to life, I needed a pretty dress and a very old citadel. Lucky for me, we have one here in my hometown and look at how perfectly it goes with this amazing, romantic and sort of medieval looking dress!

I really felt like a princess among all the tourists, and even though I broke one of my shoes and a heavy storm was coming (as you can see from the dark blue background) I had fun taking these photos!

You can find the dress at Zaful and you can be a princess in a modern age too!

Chiffon and leather

chiffon and leather3

Long time no see! I've been busy travelling back to my hometown, visiting my relatives and dealing with the strange weather that made me feel so uninspired and quite lazy.
Hopefully I will be back with new ideas, for now I am showing you the outfit I wore yesterday in the evening while walking around the empty streets. There was a time when mixing leather and light fabrics, such as chiffon or silk, was a "wow!" or a big "no-no" depending on each individual.
For me, it was a big "yes!" and I wear this combo even now. I just love the contrast and you know, it's one of those contrasts that feels good and looks even better!
 What do you think?

The unknown coat

3922 3

Let's talk about brands! I started thinking about how saturated the streets are with popular brands like Zara, Stradivarius, H&M and such, the moment I bought this navy coat. Don't get me wrong, I love Zara and H&M, I have many items from their collections and sometimes I have the urge to buy an entire collection that's how much I love their designs, but certain pieces are just EVERYWHERE and that is what annoys me the most.
I just always want to have this special sensation of feeling unique when I am wearing something I love and that doesn't happen very often. However, I when I was out with my mom in town, just browsing around for random stuff, my mom actually saw this coat and she insisted that I should try it on - get this, it was the last one and exactly in my size! - so if course, I couldn't resist the design, the cut, the color and how well it looked on me so I had to take it, so this is all her fault!

If it weren't for her, I would have never entered that store, you know why? Because it's not a popular store, it's just a shop that sells clothing in all kinds of styles, mostly office, slightly boring, then you see a modern and yet retro coat like this one! I mean, there are so many surprises in little shops like these and I know we young folk mostly avoid them because they are not popular and most of us want what everyone else has - I really don't get that.

So this coat is made in Ukraine, I barely found the brand on the web, you can check it out HERE if you want, but the site is in...Ukrainian, of course.  They seem to have some pretty cool designs though.
Oh and the boots, they are from Giulio, manufactured in Italy, they are made of leather and the quality is awesome, again, I found them in a random shop and I also found a website HERE. I see you can purchase them online, but unfortunately they don't have that many models.

So, in conclusion to this long post, don't avoid random shops, sometimes they can be more expensive than Zara TRF, but you can find so many awesome stuff that can make you feel a bit different than others, because they don't have a mass production so there are only a few pieces in certain sizes, thus the chances of running into another person on the street, wearing the same outfit as you, are much more slimmer.

How do you feel about these so called "random brands" ?

Colorful in a grey season

DSC4

Boy, I hate this transition season that happens every November and February. I mean..with no snow, there is just this grey looking city, humid, dirty, cloudy and sad. I at least hope for some sun, but no, that rarely happens during this time of the year.
So, I refuse to wear grey or black clothes and I love to spice things up a bit by wearing some bold contrasts. It really lightens my mood, have you ever tried it? Trust me, it works!
And how great it is that Friday is finally here! I'm up for a relaxing weekend, I'm going to read some of the books from my infinite long list and spend time with my folks, just all I need right now.

Happy weekend everyone and wear happy colors!
