Denim Glamour

denim glamour4

When did it became Fall I wonder? After my short holiday to Rome, which seems like ages ago, I got so caught up with the reality of the world that I forgot how fast time passes by and here we are, at the end of September and me, still longing for beach days and cold lemonades. I still got the Summertime sadness it seems..
These photos were taken right after a huge storm passed by, luckily, I took shelter in a cafe and no harm was done (to me at least). The light was so dim and I thought we would never manage to get a satisfying result, so it took me a week or so to decide to publish these images. The weather has been horrid since and I think it might've been the last time those white shoes saw the light this year!
How about these "mom jeans" ? - yet I bought another pair! The fit of these jeans really struck me and what better way to add some glamour to them than pearls? I thought it was such a nice touch, I couldn't resist them!
How do you feel about this denim trend?

Checkered shirt and mom jeans

checkered

It's amusing how this "Mom jeans" trend grew on me since I used to consider this type of jeans so old, they were the definition of "not cool" to me, I preferred either skinny jeans or flare pants, but never something in between. I guess that at a certain age you unwillingly change you style and embrace new options, I don't think I could ever wear Converse shoes with skater skirts anymore for example! So my attention was grabbed by this jeans fit and I realized that it really looks very well on my body, and what do you know?  they have become my favorite pair. How do you feel about them?

Fun fact about the print on this shirt; during my childhood, our school uniform used to have the exact same print in the exact same shade of blue and now I see it everywhere in stores, it's so funny! in a way, I thought it looked pretty interesting and it made me feel a bit nostalgic and along with that adorable ruffle, those were the reasons that made me take it home.
In case you haven't noticed, this checkered print is a must this season, for those of you who want to create more sporty-chic looks. I decided to try it out because fashion is fun and its's all about experiments, right? How do you like it?

Styling a mini leather skirt

rain2

A mini skirt, nothing new on the horizon, I am aware, however I wanted to say that I really used to avoid this type of skirts because I felt they were too simple and my fascination for the retro 1950's knee length skirts was over the roof so that didn't help, but not long ago I began looking at mini skirts in a different light.
Now, I still love circle skirts, they will always be my favorite thing to wear and this leather skirt you see it here is not new, but I love the shape of it and how it looks, so I wanted to dedicate an article to it, share with you my thoughts and maybe some guidance on how to style such a piece.

 1. Make sure the skirt is made of thick leather (of course it can be faux leather) the idea is that there are faux leather fabrics that are lighter and cheap that it will simply crack and break in time - this will create a cheap look that will do no good.

2. Wear it with short sweaters that stop just about your waistline, it creates a very chic and fun look as opposed to the classic shirt/sweater tucked inside the skirt.

 3. Over the knee boots are a must-have these days, they are the perfect match for any mini skirt and I am a big fan as well, however, today I wanted to wear them with a pair of ankle boos, mainly because it's March and well... my boots are locked up in my closet until December.

 4. Pair it with a jacket that stops at your waistline - this option will make your skirt the center piece of  your outfit. Or, longer jackets or coats work just as fine, depending on what look you are aiming for.

Embroidery all the way

embroidered jeans

I don't know about you, but I get excited like on Christmas morning whenever I see embroidery, therefor, I am so thrilled to see it on pretty much everything, from shoes to shirts and jackets! I have such a huge respect for this craft, I know it's so difficult to make and it looks soooo precious and special.
That is why I couldn't resist not taking this bag home with me, nor those Zara jeans. I usually never pay more than $15 on jeans, because they don't feel that special to me, but this pair though... They stuck in my brain ever since I saw them on the website. Then I took a glance at them in the store and went away, trying to convince myself they are not that pretty (who was I kidding?)  A few days past and they were still inside my mind (my philosophy is simple: if a piece of clothing or a pair of shoes makes you think about it more than two days later, then go get it!) So, one day, I tried them on and that was that. I went one step closer to purchasing them and I don't regret it!
It's wonderful how some details can make a piece of simple clothing appear much more interesting and more appealing!

What do you feel about this embroidery trend? I for one have some other stuff on my list, but let's wait for the next paycheck!

The cardigan dress

cardigan dress4

Can you believe it it's already June? That means half of 2016 is already gone and Summer is here! Minus the occasional rains, but you know how it is.
It's time to plan vacations, time to wear light clothes and take out those sandals you bought in mid March (like I did) and indulge in at least three ice creams per day!
I was excited to take out these sandals from Zara, but let's get this straight: they are incredibly beautiful and of course, that comes with a price: the level of comfort wearing them goes down to almost zero. I knew that before buying them, but I didn't care. Beautiful things can be painful.

To the cardigan, I took it thinking I can wear it for what it is: a cardigan. But I realized that it can also be turned into a casual Summer dress and don't worry, those are not my underwear, it's a pair of lace shorts - rest assured, I am not that bold  careless.

What do you think about this type of cardigan?

Casual Bohemian Girl

casual bohemian5

As casual as one can be, right? Actually the term "casual" is not even used in it's simple form anymore as far as I can tell. You have "smart-casual", then "casual-chic", or "active-casual", so the basic "casual" term is used for...a look composed of skinny jeans, a T-shirt and some flat shoes, or maybe some sneakers because those can be more comfortable?  Boy, I used to be this plain in highschool; back then you couldn't take me out of my Converse and my grunge T-shirts -  there was no femininity in me!
Fast-forward a few years later and here I am wearing what I like to call now a "casual" outfit. Nothing too fancy, a simple denim skirt, a pair of comfy, but colorful, flat shoes and a blouse that still has all that bohemian, romantic vibe I love - naturally, it had to be worn off shoulders, because I am obsessed with that.
Tonight I'll be watching "Alice through the Looking Glass" - I caaaan't wait, I heard so many good things about this film and of course I'm all about Alice's charming adventures ever since I was a kid.

What are your plans for the weekend?

Two small treasures: a skirt and a vintage bracelet

silk green skirt4

I'm such a romantic, aren't I? I couldn't help but to embrace my feminine style and create another classic/chic/romantic outfit.
This silky maxi skirt is one of my favorite items I own and how else could I pair it than with a off the shoulder blouse and golden jewelry! I scored this gorgeous colorful vintage bracelet from a vintage fair back in Bucharest, I fell in love with it at first sight, and even though spent a small fortune on it, I don't regret it, it is definitely an item to treasure!
