Sophisticated thoughts

_127 3

I am not one that looks elegant and proud even when a wonderful day turns into a crappy one. Although I try to be, I think it works better in my head than in reality. In any case, that image of a strong, sophisticated woman with an expression that says "I'm too good for you people and yet I accept you in my world" has always been haunting me. Perhaps I've seen too many old movies or have a huge collection of old Hollywood's glamorous actresses that have the exact same attitude I mentioned. Even so, I like to pay special attention to my outfits and dress up fancy, not just for the sake of special occasions. There are also days in which I don't give a single thought and just dress up in 5 minutes and that's about it.
Speaking of the lack of spohistication, I am about to go thrifting and hopefully I will find some treasures. If not, I will be sad for the rest of day.
Oh come on, I am not that superficial.

Pleats please!

_DSC0007

This is the main project I have been working on until today for University, the theme was simple: "Pleating experimental techniques" so we had to come up with a original design that included pleats. Some used textile fabrics, other used paper, I was inspired by nature and especially - this might sound strange - but the mushroom gills were the elements that caught my attention. There are so many kinds, from straight gills to the curvy ones, and I wanted to create waves and undulated shapes to create a movement. I chose a fabric that was easy enough to pleat, all I had to do was to arrange the strips on the dress - that was the fun part!
What do you think?

Merry Christmas dear ones!

xm6

I hope you all received from Santa everything you wished for and that this day is filled with joy among you and your loved ones. For me this is by far my favorite Holiday, and all the Christmas decorations, lights and the beautifully wrapped presents are exciting me unlike any other little details from this world. And I appreciate details.
I spent Christmas Eve decorating and buying last minute presents, afterward The Boy, my parents and a friend of ours spent some time in the evening eating too many cookies and we watched a very fun old Christmas movie (don't you just love them?) all in all it was a perfect day, relaxed and fun. Here is what I chose to wear, my mom's old shirt and my pleated skirt which I very much adore.

An experiment with the lights in my room, I spent an hour playing around.

As for today, I am now at my grandparents, eating once more too many cookies and just spending time with the family. Too bad it isn't snowing, but there is still time I hope.

Happy Holidays!!

Inspiration from Japan

9l3

I made this kimono inspired top just recently, after I rediscovered a piece of fabric I bought last Spring, and even though it's made for Spring/Summer season, I couldn't wait that long and I wanted to show it to you guys as well. The first thing that came up into my mind was Japan, after seeing it's beautiful print, and of course it's not from there, but since I am very fond of that country, I had to have it.
What do you think?

I just adore my thrifted, baggy, ciel blue sweater! I feel like wearing a piece of the bright sky. And guess what? Today was a sunny wonderful day, at last!

Have a great week darlings!

This is what I wore yesterday on a sunny but quite chilly day; I opted for mixed textures and pastel colors, which to me felt so appropriate and sweet. These photos were taken near the Natural History Museum, where we wanted to go, but the waiting line was insanely long and so we just gave up and took a long walk instead. There is always a next time.
Tomorrow is Halloween, have you decided what you're going to wear?

Dark clouds and warm colors

zo3

This is what I wore today for University on a cloudy, rainy day - actually almost the whole week has been like this. I am wearing here a lovely pair of earrings I got from Kittenhood, she makes wonderful hand made accessories, they accidentaly matched my tights and shoes and they look like small stormy clouds.
At the moment I am working for a project which will end soon, maybe I will post about it, depending how satisfied I am with it.

I bought this skirt from New Yorker not too long ago because, of course, it has pleats! And the color is also great, it came to my mind that I really do not own a red skirt, so this is a great acquisition for me.
Gotta run darlings, stay soon for juicy news!
